The Entire Library in the palm of your hand

DZB app for iOS, Android version coming soon

Through our DZB app, the German Central Library for the Blind (Deutsche Zentralbücherei für Blinde) now offers its users, who are blind or have low vision, easy access to its entire collection of Talking Books. Now, users can not only search the catalogue for fiction and non-fiction Talking Books from their mobile devices, but for the first time they can also stream or download them on their smartphones or tablets. The newly released DZB app is available for iOS and is fully accessible with VoiceOver. An Android version will become available later this year.

The app allows users to listen to DAISY Talking Books while on the go.
These books consist of mp3 and additional files enhancing navigation within the book. Comprising about 34,000 titles, the catalogue offers a diverse range of books. The DZB app lets users browse the entire collection, download or stream books, or order them on CD. Users may listen directly from within the app or to the CD version on their preferred device. This makes using the DZB Talking Book library considerably easier and more accessible. I am glad that by developing this app, we were able to make books more accessible to people who are blind or have low vision.

Simultaneously, we also have released an update for the Blibu NBH&CB app, an app we previously designed for the North German Talking Book Library for the Blind (Norddeutsche Blindenhörbücherei).
