For the first time, Ostrale Biennale for contemporary Art, an international exhibition in Dresden, is now accessible to individuals who are blind or partially sighted. These visitors can access information about the exhibits using a smartphone app especially designed for this purpose. The AllSense app is an audio guide including audio descriptions for 25 selected works of art representing a cross-section of the exhibits. We have installed small Bluetooth beacons at the exhibits as well as at other important locations in the exhibition area, such as restaurants or lavatories. As users approach one of these locations, they will hear an announcement. We have developed the AllSense app for Android and iOS on behalf of Ostrale. Visitors can either download the app from the Play Store or the App Store and use it on their own device or borrow a device at the exhibition. Additionally, visual and tactile floor indicators support visitors who are blind or partially sighted to navigate the exhibition area.
